Due to its high boiling point and low volatility, it can be used as a solvent for paints, inks, resins, etc., capable of dissolving oils, dyes, resins, cellulose, and is also used in organic synthesis.

Primarily used as a solvent in coatings, dyes, resins, etc., and also as an intermediate for plasticizers and a diluent for hydraulic brake fluids. Additionally, it is used in the production of piperonyl butoxide compounds. The oral LD50 for rats is 6560 mg/kg.

Mainly used as a solvent for coatings, printing inks, stamp pad inks, oils, resins, etc. It can also serve as a metal cleaner, paint remover, lubricant remover, automotive engine cleaner, dry-cleaning solvent, epoxy resin solvent, and pharmaceutical extractant. It is used as a stabilizer for latex paints, an evaporation inhibitor for aircraft coatings, and a surface treatment improver for high-temperature baked enamels.
